The Fool, then, symbolizes what Dr. Waite, in his Key to the Tarot, calls ‘the state of first emanation.’ He is the primary aspect of universal consciousness, which we term superconsciousness. He is the cosmic Life-Breath, about to descend into the abyss of manifestation.
