V The Hierophant St. Mary Magdalene Christian A wooden boat makes land on the shores of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, bearing the three Marys of the region’s folklore and their wisdom to a new world. Mary Salome, clothed in red, leans out of one side of the boat expectantly; another, Mary of Jacob, gently cradles an alabaster jar; the Mary in the center is the Magdalene herself, holding the book of wisdom and bearing a key to the mysteries upon her breast. Her right hand is held up in benediction, and holy light radiates from her. Together they have brought their faith and the teachings of the Rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth, to these shores, and it is here they will found their new church, revealing the sacred to all.
